What are JAM DESIGN WORKSHOP'S sustainability practices?
At JAM Design Workshop, we prioritize sustainability in all of our design practices. Here are some of the ways we incorporate sustainability into our work:
Material selection: We carefully select eco-friendly and sustainable materials for planting, hardscaping, and custom functional spaces. We consider factors such as the material's carbon footprint, durability, and impact on the environment.
Water conservation: We design landscapes that minimize water usage through the use of drought-resistant plants, rainwater harvesting, and smart irrigation systems.
Biodiversity: We promote biodiversity by incorporating native plants and creating habitats for local wildlife. This helps to create a healthy ecosystem and improve the overall health of the environment.
Sustainable design: We use sustainable design practices to create outdoor spaces that are not only beautiful but also energy-efficient. This includes incorporating renewable energy sources, such as solar panels and wind turbines, into our designs.
Education: We educate our clients on the importance of sustainability in landscape design and provide them with information on how to maintain their new eco-friendly outdoor space.
By incorporating these sustainability practices into our designs, we can create outdoor spaces that are both beautiful and environmentally responsible.

What do JAM's designs not include?
At JAM Design Workshop, we take great care to ensure that our all-online services meet the highest standards of professionalism and quality. However, we want to make sure our clients are aware of certain limitations in our services.
At this time, our all-online services do not include drainage or irrigation plans or permitting. While we are knowledgeable about most basic codes, such as setbacks, easements, and fence heights, we ask that homeowners inform us about any city-specific codes during our thorough onboarding process.
It is important to note that our Online design services do not include construction details for elements such as pergolas, decks, pools, ADUs, gas lines, electrical lines, and other structures. If your design includes any of these elements, you may need to engage with a structural engineer or an architect as part of your build process.
We want our clients to have the best possible experience with our services, and we are always happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the design process. Thank you for considering JAM Design Workshop for your landscape design needs.

How do you know my style?
At the beginning of the design process, you'll take a thorough landscape design questionnaire, answer a number of questions about your project, share inspiration photos and lot plan documents. We will also have an initial meeting to ascertain any further details. From all of this information, we'll have a good sense of exactly what you're imagining for your outdoor space.
-
How do you choose the right plants for my property?
we understand the importance of sustainability in plant selection for your outdoor space. That's why we take a holistic approach that considers a variety of factors specific to your property. Here's how we choose the right plants for your project:
Site analysis: We start by analyzing your property's unique site conditions, such as soil type, sun exposure, and moisture levels, to determine the best plant options.
Client preferences: We take the time to understand your plant preferences, including any specific types of plants you would like to incorporate into the design.
Functionality: We consider the functionality of the plants, including their ability to provide shade, privacy screens, or erosion control.
Sustainability: We prioritize sustainable plant choices that are well-suited to your property, require minimal maintenance, and support local ecosystems. This includes selecting plants that are drought-tolerant, disease-resistant, and low-maintenance.
Local climate: We choose plants that are native or adapted to your local climate, which can ensure they thrive and require less water and maintenance over time.
Aesthetics: We carefully consider the visual appeal of plants and how they complement other elements of the design, such as hardscaping or outdoor structures.
Overall, our approach to plant selection is focused on creating a beautiful, functional, and sustainable outdoor space that meets your specific needs and preferences while also minimizing the impact on the environment.

How do you keep my design inside of my exact budget?
we understand that staying within your budget is important. Here's how we work to ensure your design stays within your budget:
Establishing a clear budget: We start by establishing a clear budget at the beginning of the project. This allows us to design within the budget from the outset, rather than making changes later in the process.
Prioritizing design elements: We work with you to prioritize the design elements that are most important to you. By identifying the most critical design elements upfront, we can focus on those elements while keeping costs in check.
Providing cost estimates: We provide cost estimates for all design elements, so you have a clear understanding of the anticipated costs upfront.
Value engineering: If necessary, we can suggest alternative materials or design solutions that achieve the same aesthetic or functional goals at a lower cost.
Ongoing communication: We maintain ongoing communication with you throughout the design process to ensure that we are meeting your expectations and staying within your budget.
By following these steps, we can ensure that your design stays within your budget while still achieving your desired aesthetic and functional goals.
-
Will you revise my design if I want to make a small change?
Every design package comes with two revisions, which happen after receiving the first draft of your render in the conceptual stage. We do offer additional revisions for a fee, but these can be bypassed by collaborating directly with the contractor on any last-minute design decisions. We will happily make small revisions to your 2D master plans without charge. This is called Redline markups drawings
