Picton Main Street Curb Appeal

This concept design reimagines the front yard of a Main Street home in Picton with a focus on three things: curb appeal, safety, and functionality.

Because the property fronts directly onto a busy street, the design needed to feel polished and welcoming while also working well for everyday life. Better access to the house, smarter use of driveway space, and a secure boundary for young children were all key priorities.

Project Goals
The design was developed to achieve the following:

  • Improve overall curb appeal and visual structure from the street

  • Upgrade the steps and front entry experience

  • Rethink the existing garden into a cleaner, low maintenance layout

  • Improve driveway function to support a turning circle or 3 point turn

  • Provide at least one dedicated outdoor parking space

  • Introduce a fencing and gate system for toddler safety along Main Street

Box in beneath the existing deck to create clean storage access

    Design Direction

The design takes inspiration from formal English garden layouts and modern design elements, using symmetry, geometry, and clear edges to create a timeless, structured front garden.

Raised beds organize planting into defined zones and reinforce the overall layout. Evergreen forms bring year round structure and help the space feel composed even in the shoulder seasons.

To keep things feeling current and aligned with the clients’ style, subtle modern detailing was introduced through carpentry and built elements, creating a balance between classic garden principles and a cleaner contemporary finish.

    Key Details + Materials

Using a vertical slat design across railings, gates, and fencing.

This creates visual rhythm and cohesion throughout the front while complementing the traditional architecture of the home.
